The IHSM was established in 2003 as part of a strategy to reform the education system and increase the competitiveness of domestic universities. The main emphasis in the creation of the IHSM was placed on the creation of a modern and dynamic educational institution that provides high quality training and has a competitive potential in the medical education market.

During the functioning of the IHSM, more than 5 thousand graduates received a diploma in their specialty. The IHSM graduates successfully pass the FMGE, NLE, PLAB, USMLE exams in their homeland and work in their specialty in India, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Germany, etc.

IHSM Issyk-Kul campus is a new promising educational institution located in a unique recreation area, known far beyond the borders of Kyrgyzstan. Issyk-Kul attracts people with its natural beauty and recreation opportunities. IHSM Issyk-Kul Campus opened its doors in 2017 to welcome all of you. Professionally trained teachers pass on their knowledge to students who become future healthcare professionals.
The campus has the potential to promote medical and information technology. Its goal is to meet the highest standards of a medical institution. The medical school strives to train outstanding professionals to become experts in their fields, who, in their turn, will save patients’ lives. The Campus’ infrastructure is convenient. This allows students to live comfortably and study successfully. Together we strive to become the center of health and science. In conclusion, I want to say that everyone who has knowledge can change life.
On April 16, 1939, a Resolution of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Kyrgyz SSR was adopted, the first paragraph of which read “To open the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute in the city of Frunze from September 1, 1939, with the enrollment of 200 students for the first year.” The foundation of the higher medical school was laid by professors and teachers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kharkov and Kyiv. In 1943, the first graduation of students from the medical institute took place – 120 doctors.
In organizing the institute, invaluable assistance was provided by the 1st Moscow, Leningrad, Almaty, Tashkent and other medical institutes. They provided advisory and organizational assistance, provided medical literature and directed teaching staff for permanent work at the institute. Departments of history of the CPSU and political economy, normal anatomy, biology, histology, general chemistry, physics, foreign languages and others were organized, with 16 teachers working there.
